It's going to be a busy weekend in Gainesville as the city's Parks and Recreations gets set to hold two big events in as many days.

On Saturday, March 24, the department will holds its Bark in the Park competition at the Rock Creek Park Amphitheater.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their canine friends out for a day of fun and contests to determine the top dog in several categories, including best smile, most wrinkles, most colors, oldest, best dressed, owner lookalike, best singer, best dancer, most athletic, worst breath, most hyper, cutest dog in all sizes, ugliest, best trick, most obedient, biggest and smallest dogs.

The event is free and open to the public. The contests have a $5 entry fee per category.

Rock Creek Park is located 223 Northside Drive, Gainesville.

If you're still up for fun by Sunday, you can participate in the Underwater Easter Egg Hunt at Frances Meadows Aquatic Center on March 25.

Participants will have a chance to collect eggs from the depths to trade in for treats.

All ages are welcome. Eggs will be placed at varying depths, with many of them floating on the surface to give everyone, big and small, a chance to gather them.

Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult into the water. Life jackets will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Adults can participate for $5, and children for $10, which is not included in the Passports. Families with paying children will be allowed one free adult per family.

The Frances Meadows Aquatic Center is located at 1545 Community Way in Gainesville.
