Teenage thespians will don their costumes to perform the comedic play “The Curious Savage” at Gainesville High School.

According to the Dramatists Play Service website (www.dramatists.com), the story focuses on Mrs. Savage, who has been left $10 million by her husband. She wants to make the best use of it, but her grown-up stepchildren want the money.

Knowing the widow’s wealth is in negotiable securities, the stepchildren commit her to a sanatorium, hoping to “bring her to her senses.” But while in the sanatorium, Mrs. Savage meets various social misfits, men and women who just cannot adjust themselves to life. Relationships develop and more laughter results.

To see the outcome, attend any of the three performances at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6-8 at 830 Century Place in Gainesville.

Tickets are $8 adults and $5 students and seniors 65 and older. Only cash is accepted.
