“The more I know of the world, the more I am convinced that I shall never see a man whom I can really love. I require so much!”
Such are the thoughts of Marianne Dashwood as she ponders a suitable romance, until her heart soars when the dashing John Willoughby sweeps her off her feet, literally.
The tale of Marianne and her older sister, Elinor, and their opposite approaches to love will be relayed by the Gainesville Theatre in Jane Austen’s “Sense & Sensibility.”
The story of the two sisters opened Tuesday and will run until April 19 in the Ed Cabell Theatre at the University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus. Performances will continue at 7:30 p.m. April 10-12 and 15-19 and 2:30 p.m. April 13 and 19. A pre-show lecture by University of North Georgia English professor and Austen scholar Donna Gessell will be at 1:30 p.m. April 19.
