Chely Wright arrives Sept. 21 for the Americana Music Association Honors & Awards Show in Nashville, Tenn. She will perform at 7 p.m. April 23 at the Crimson Moon.

Award-winning singer, songwriter and country star Chely Wright is coming to Dahlonega.

Wright, who made history by becoming the first country music star to come out as openly gay in 2010, will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at The Crimson Moon, 24 N. Park St., in Dahlonega.

Tickets are $17 and can be purchased at www.thecrimsonmoon.com.

Wright rose to fame in the 1990’s with country hits such as “Single White Female” and “Shut Up & Drive.” Since 2010, she released a memoir, has been the subject of an award-winning documentary, married her wife Lauren and gave birth to twin boys.

In 2016, Wright released her eighth studio album, titled “I Am The Rain.” The critically acclaimed Americana album was produced by Joe Henry and features collaborations with Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell and The Milk Carton Kids.
