Hall County Parks and Leisure staff have found a way to help women update their wardrobe and knock out a little spring cleaning simultaneously.

At 6 p.m. March 10, the department will host Ladies' Night Out Clothing Swap at its office, 1086 Rainey St., Gainesville.

"This is our first time doing the ladies' night," said Katie Hardin, program coordinator.

"We came up with the idea after brainstorming about new programs we could do in response to the current economic times."

The swap is simple: Interested parties drop off their gently used clothing and accessories at the Parks and Leisure office by Tuesday for screening. Parks department staff ask that interested participants call in advance before dropping off items.

On the day of the event, ladies will be given tickets matching the number of items they brought that were included in the swap.

"Everyone will receive their tickets when they show up for the swap," Hardin said.

"There's no cost involved, but there's no guarantee that you'll find as many items as you brought."

Clothes don't have to be on hangers, but they should be clean. Any items left over from the swap will be donated to Gateway House, a Gainesville-based domestic violence center, Hardin says.
