"Chanson" means "a French song," also the name of a male a capella group that will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, in the Piedmont College Chapel in Demorest.

The six-voice ensemble was formed in 1997 at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., where the young musicians were members of Concordia's famed traveling choir. The group's performance will encompass many genres and styles, including three Renaissance love songs from the Middle Ages, three world folk songs, three Psalm settings from the Bible, and pieces created by members of Chanson.

Chanson, now in its 12th season, has produced four albums. The most recent is "In Dreams" with works by composers Stephen Paulus, Francis Poulenc and pieces by members of Chanson.

For more information about Chanson and hear their music visit www.chanson.org. Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Piedmont faculty, staff, and students are admitted free. Tickets are on sale at the door.
