Family Promise of Hall County supporters can’t wait to spend a night in their cars.

“Car City: Putting the Brakes on Family Homelessness” is meant to raise awareness about homelessness in the community and raise money to fund for Family Promises’ three new affordable homes and programming for children and their families.

Participants will park their cars from 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 24, to 7 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at First Presbyterian Church, 800 S. Enota Drive NE, in Gainesville. Then they will accept pledges to spend a full night — regardless of the weather — in their cars.

Others may join the festivities without spending the night by purchasing a $10 “parking pass.”

Area churches will provide activities, food, live music and aid projects for Car City.

Family Promise provides counseling, life skills training, stable temporary housing, advocacy and affordable transitional homes.
