During the colder months as parents seek indoor activities for the family, Aurora Children’s Playhouse provides the necessary venue and entertainment with performances for families with young children.

The first performance this weekend will be Dr. Seuss’s “The Cat in the Hat” at 10 and 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The stage version is based on the book by Dr. Seuss. Two week night performance will follow at 6 p.m. Jan. 28 and Feb. 10.

Tickets to the Saturday morning performance are $7. The weeknight performances cost $10.

Featuring a cast of eight actors and puppeteers, “The Cat in the Hat” turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure for Sally and her brother.

Then on Saturday, Feb. 1, Big Thinkers Science Exploration returns with “It’s Electric!,” an exciting exploration of electricity and heat.

Watch the Big Thinkers experiment with a 50,000 volt Tesla Coil, offer hands-on audience participation with a hair-raising electrostatic generator, conduct an indoor lightning strike and experiment with levitation using the “FunFlyStick.”

Shows will be at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and cost $7.

The following weekend, celebrity children’s author and singing storyteller Eric Litwin returns for his annual visit to Aurora Theatre. He will play many instruments, including the guitar and harmonica and share musical stories that inspire and delight the listener. Litwin, author of “Pete the Cat,” will share stories from his New York Times No. 1 best-selling book series.

His shows will be at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and cost $7.

All shows are about 45 minutes in length and at Aurora Theatre, 128 E. Pike St., in Lawrenceville. Reservations are recommended.
