Arias to waft through air at Bowen Center for the Arts
Piano and Opera Arias will be performed Feb. 16 in Dawsonville

The Georgia Musicale Group will perform the concert “Piano and Opera Arias” from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Bowen Center for the Arts, 334 Ga. 9 North, in Dawsonville.

Sounds of a piano and opera arias will be heard at the Bowen Center for the Arts as the Georgia Musicale Group performs Thursday, Feb. 16.

The concert “Piano and Opera Arias” will be from 6-7:30 p.m. at 334 Ga. 9 North. It will feature pieces from Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, Camille Sant-Saens and George Gershwin.

The three regional musicians performing and throwing in conversation are Abbie Hattauer, Utako Tanigawa and Julie Woodall.

Hattauer of Marietta is a pianist and vocalist. Originally from New York, she has been a vocational pianist for more than 40 years. She performed as a member of the Island Lyric Opera Company in more than a dozen major operas and operettas for over 20 years.

Tanigawa, a concert pianist, performed with Joe Chapman at the University of North Georgia. She came from the executive business sector but her love of music resurfaced after a recent illness. She has performed in amateur competitions in the Van Cliburn Competition, and in Washington, D.C., Poland and Russia. She is the president and founder of the Musicale Group.

Woodall of Dahlonega has played piano for 50 years. She taught elementary level music for 31 years and is the organist/choir director at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Dahlonega. She enjoys accompanying solos and groups.

The $10 tickets will include a casual question and answer reception with refreshments. Proceeds will benefit the Georgia Musicale Group and its outreach in musical presentations and benefits.
