Providing therapy to children, tween and teens and adults who are victims of sexual abuse and assault can be costly. Luckily in Hall County, the Children’s Center for Hope and Healing offers that service for free.

The center raises the money for those services at its Gala for Hope and Healing, the largest fundraiser of the year. The center holds two other fundraisers earlier in the year — a wine tasting in March and an educational conference in June.

“Like any other nonprofit in this town, we receive funding from the United Way and receive state and federal grants,” said Cindy Wilson, the director of development. “But it’s not enough. So we have to supplement our budget with fundraisers.”

Last year, between 150 and 175 people attended the gala and raised $18,000. This year, Wilson expects about 200 to attend.

The ninth annual gala will be from 7-11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Chattahoochee Country Club, 3000 Club Drive, Gainesville. The event will include a silent auction, and the dress code is cocktail attire.

Tickets are $75 per person. Tables and sponsorships are available for $500 and higher. Tickets may be purchased by calling the center at 770-532-6530 or emailing Dorsey Danielson at adanielson@hopeandhealingga.org.
