Thompson: Built-in lights make these gloves genius

I’ve never done a tip on a pair of gloves, but these gloves are special. They’re made by Mechanix, a company that is well respected for making the best work gloves in the world. They’re so good that most NASCAR crew members use them. The pair of gloves that I’m going to tell you about today are special because they have built-in LED lights on them. The LED lights put out a bright 10,000 lumens and allow you to see into dark places like the recesses of your car engine. Every mechanic and weekend warrior needs a pair of these.

Speaking of cool tools, you need to check out the Thumbsaver. This ingenious gadget holds a nail while you start to hammer it — hence, the Thumbsaver name. It works on all sizes of nails and even screws. Every toolbox needs one of these.

I’m not sure if this is a good tip or not. However, I’m sharing it anyway. My friend Debbie reports that when she wants to get her husband to do some task around the house, she hides the remote control until the task is done. (I didn’t ask her husband what he thought of this tip).

Barbara Bruce reports that the best way to remove wallpaper glue from a wall is to use fabric softener mixed with hot water. She used this tip a lot when she recently helped redecorate her church.

If you bite into a hot chili pepper, don’t drink water. The water will only spread the pain through your mouth. Instead, grab some milk, yogurt, bread or crackers. Trust me on this one.

I get some unusual tips from time to time. This is one of them. If you’re single, it’s really hard to apply lotion to your back. You can overcome this problem by applying lotion to the backside of a back-scratcher. The woman who gave me this tip swears by it. I’m taking her word on it.
