Lily Paschall totaled 22 assists, three aces, three digs and a kill in the North Hall volleyball team’s two wins on Thursday at Habersham Central. The Trojans defeated Habersham Central 25-17, 25-20 and topped Gainesville 25-12, 25-15.

Sydney Cleveland added 11 kills, three blocks, and five digs, Julie Daniels had seven kills, four blocks and two aces, Jen Mullican had six kills and seven blocks, Autumn Tucker had eight kills and a block, and Makenzie Bryant had seven digs and two kills. North Hall begins area play on Tuesday at home against Buford.

JOHNSON WINS PAIR: Grace Eidson tallied six aces and 12 assists to lead Johnson (7-13 overall) to a 25-23, 26-24 win against Monroe Area and added eight assists and four digs in an 18-25, 28-26, 15-13 victory over Lumpkin County on Thursday. Brook Balenger added eight kills against Monroe Area and eight kills and four digs against Lumpkin County.

Jessica Panter had four kills against Monroe Area. Cassie McDonald had five aces and three digs against Lumpkin County, while Julia Bowers added two aces and three digs. Johnson plays again Saturday in a tournament at Lakeview Academy.

CHESTATEE EARNS TWO WINS: Chestatee beat West Hall 25-15, 25-11 and Fannin County 25-22, 25-20 on Thursday at West Hall. Alexa Starr had seven kills, two aces and a block, Haley King had six aces and 19 assists, Tyler Bennett had 11 kills, nine digs and six assists, Grace Brown had eight kills, nine digs and an ace, and Macey Jarrard had six kills, three aces and 14 digs. Chestatee begins area matches next week on the road at Monroe.

GAINESVILLE SPLITS: Gainesville picked up a 25-19, 25-19 win over Habersham Central on Tuesday in Cornelia, but fell 12-25, 15-25 to North Hall. Savannah Roys tallied 11 assists, Bethany Whitenton had four kills and Sydney King added 14 digs in the loss to North Hall. In the win over Habersham Central, Roys posted 12 assists and nine service points, Abby Alexander had eight kills, Whitenton had three aces, five kills and seven service points, Tanai Watson had four kills, and Sally Callahan had three aces, two kills and nine service points. Gainesville (7-7 overall) will host first Flowery Branch and Heritage in the Region 8-AAAAA opener on Tuesday.

 

Softball

BANKS COUNTY 10, WEST HALL 0 (5 INNINGS): Mallory Parson went 3 for 3 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored for the Leopards on Thursday in Homer. She also picked up the win in the circle, allowing one hit and striking out eight over five innings. Abby Baird also went 3 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored, Shelby Parson went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, and Emilee Turner went 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Banks is now 10-3 on the season and 5-1 in Region 7-AAA. Banks plays at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday at Lumpkin County.

GAINESVILLE 8, CLARKE CENTRAL 0: Kara England allowed only two hits while striking out four batters in a complete game for Gainesville on Thursday. Whitney Ledford supported her at the plate with three hits, including a double, and finished with two RBIs. Madison Oliver delivered two doubles and two RBIs. Gainesville (12-4, 2-2 Region 8-AAAAA) hosts Heritage on Tuesday.

NORTH HALL 5, STEPHENS COUNTY 3 (9 INNINGS): Ashleyn Brewster went 3 for 5 for the Trojans. Kaitlin Edwards went 1 for 4 with an RBI, Ashley Goines went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Logan Savage pinch hit in the 9th to deliver an RBI. Kaitlin Edwards and Hannah Meeler combined for the win in the circle.
