HS football scoreboard: White County beats cross-river rival Habersham Central, 35-14

White County’s Bill Ballard earned his 100th win as a head coach with a 35-14 victory against Habersham Central on Friday in Cleveland.

Sam Turner and Maurice Sutton led the Warriors’ offense with two touchdowns each, and Coley Loudermilk added the final score.

Defensively, Dalton Whitfield finished with two tackles for a loss for White County (1-0), and Adam Johnson had a pair of interceptions.

Tucker Cook had multiple quarterback hurries from the defensive side of the ball and added skill at tight end for the Warriors. Tyler Wilson and the starting offensive line were able to hold off the Raiders until the end of the fourth quarter.

White County visits Lumpkin County next Friday in Dahlonega.

FELLOWSHIP CHRISTIAN 41, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 14: Lions’ quarterback Jackson Strickland scored a pair of touchdowns on Friday in Roswell.

Lakeview Academy (0-1) looks for a win when they play host to Hebron Christian Academy next Friday in Gainesville.

UNION COUNTY 41, TOWNS COUNTY 14: Robert Prunier returned a kickoff for a touchdown to lead the Panthers on Friday in Blairsville.

Jacob Rogers and Nick Whittle also scored for Union County (1-0), which kicked a pair of field goals to increase the lead.

The Panthers visit Fannin County next Friday in Blue Ridge, while Towns County (0-2) plays host to Fellowship Christian in Hiawassee.

JOHNSON 34, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 8: The Knights were able to come up with a win on the road on Friday in Lexington.

Johnson plays host to North Hall in the Knights’ first home game of the season next Friday in Oakwood.

EAST HALL 48, CHATTOOGA 12: East Hall picked up a home win on Friday in Gainesville.

The Vikings have a bye next week, but visit East Jackson on Sept. 13 in Commerce.

EAST JACKSON 14, BANKS COUNTY 10: The Leopards came up just short in their season opener on Friday in Commerce.

Banks County (0-1) stays on the road in Week 2, visiting Athens Christian next Friday in Athens.

JEFFERSON 40, COMMERCE 0: Defending Class AA state champion Jefferson wasted no time starting their title defense on Friday in Jefferson.

The Dragons visit Jackson County for a cross-town rivalry game next Friday in Jefferson.

WINDER-BARROW 26, JACKSON COUNTY 21: The Panthers couldn’t complete the comeback on Friday in Winder.

Jackson County faces another challenge when they play host to Jefferson next Friday in Jefferson.
