College scoreboard: North Georgia defeats Lincoln Memorial in NCAA Division II Southeast Regional

Peppers thows a complete game in Nighthawk win

Dylan Peppers’ complete game pitching performance with eight strikeouts led the University of North Georgia baseball team to a 4-1 win against Lincoln Memorial on Thursday in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional tournament in Mount Olive, North Carolina.

Conner Corbitt and Bill Leroy each had a homer for the Nighthawks.
Corbitt hit a home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to put North Georgia back on top, 2-1. Leroy later added a home run for the Nighthawks in the sixth inning to increase the lead 3-1. Corbitt singled in another run in the eighth inning.

Up next, North Georgia faces the University of South Carolina-Aiken at 7 p.m. tonight at Scarborough Field in Mount Olive, North Carolina.

Despite both teams coming from the same conference it will be the first time this season these two teams will face each other.
The University of North Georgia softball team lost Game 1 to Armstrong State 6-2 in its Division II Super Regional series Thursday in Dahlonega.

The Lady Nighthawks only had three hits for the night. Sydney Sprague and Kaylyn Anthony each drove in a run for North Georgia.

North Georgia and Armstrong State will play Game 2 at noon today at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium in Dahlonega. If the Lady Nighthawks force a third game, it will be played at 2:30 p.m. to determine a spot in the NCAA DII Softball Championship.
