North Georgia's Smith, Gouge earn Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week honors

University of North Georgia freshman pitcher Kylee Smith is the Peach Belt Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Smith opened up with a two-hit performance from the circle in a 9-1 win against Mars Hill, striking out 12 in six innings of work. Smith gave up 12 hits over a pair of games with seven walks at the Steak ‘n Shake Classic in Dahlonega.

She currently leads Peach Belt Conference pitchers in both strikeouts and wins.

University of North Georgia senior Michael Gouge is the Peach Belt Conference Baseball Player of the Week. Gouge had six doubles, two home runs and drove in nine runs in the past four games. He leads the Peach Belt Conference in RBIs, total bases, doubles and runs scored.

The Nighthawks won twice in a three-game series against defending Division II national champion Nova Southeastern.
