Williams and Brown tied for the lead at Gainesville City Golf Championship

Both carded a combined 141 during first 36 holes

Nathan Williams and Pep Brown both shot a combined 141 over the first two rounds to share the lead Saturday at the Gainesville City Golf Championship at the Chattahoochee Golf Club.

Williams carded a first-round 71, followed by a 70 during the second round. Brown went 70-71 during his first two rounds.

Matt Elliott holds third place after a two-round total of 143.

In the first flight, Mike Smith carded a first-round 72 to lead by four shots over Jay Jacobs. Tait Freeman is third after a 79.

In the second flight, Jeff Stowe carded an opening-round 76 for the lead. Stowe is two-shots ahead of a three-way tie for second between Scott Head, Trent Brown and Will Hicks.

John Payne leads the third flight after an opening-round 79.

The final round of the City Championship begins at 10:40 a.m. Sunday at Chattahoochee.
