A Hall County Sheriff’s deputy is on administrative leave after being arrested in Habersham County early Thursday.

Stephen Weiler, 31 of Demorest, was arrested and charged with one count of simple battery following a domestic dispute with his wife, according to a report from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Weiler was booked into the Habersham County Jail and later released after posting a $1,200 bond.

A four-year employee of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Weiler is currently assigned to the Court Services Division.

Weiler has been placed on temporary administrative leave pending an internal investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
