Johanna Thornton Preston, Johnie Cade and Phillip and Juanita Smith, all of Gainesville, announce the engagement of their daughter Teasha Irene Thornton to Starsky Tyrell Brown, son of Rebecca and Charles Nicely of Gainesville and Kenny and Tina Jones of Toccoa.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Irene Waller of Gainesville, the late Zephree Smith and the late James Thomas Geter.

She is a 2001 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2005 from Lanier Technical College in Oakwood with degrees in medical assisting, medical reception and phlebotomy. She is employed as a medical technician with Morningside Assisted Living in Gainesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mary and Robert Brown, Linda Jones and Leroy Hopkins, all of Gainesville.

He attended Gainesville High School in Gainesville. He is employed as a machine operator with Indalex Aluminum in Gainesville.

The couple plans to wed October 2008 in Gainesville.
