Mark and Lisa Carpenter of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Allison Renea Carpenter to Daniel Edward Funk, son of Mark and Janet Funk of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Grady and Bert Carpenter of Chestnut Mountain, Willa Nelle Gardner of Oakwood and the late Harry Gardner.

She is a 2003 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood. She graduated in 2008 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a bachelor's degree in early childhood/special education. She is employed as a teacher with Oakwood Elementary School in Oakwood.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Godfrey and Patty Funk of Clermont, Elizabeth Samples of Hickory, N.C., and the late Edward Samples.

He is a 2003 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. He attended Gainesville State College in Oakwood. He is employed as a firefighter and emergency medical technician with Hall County.

The couple plan an open church wedding for 3 p.m. Oct. 11, 2008, at Flat Creek Baptist Church in Gainesville.
