DOT sets contracts for road work in Northeast Georgia

The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded about $4.8 million in contracts for resurfacing projects in Dawson, Forsyth, Habersham and White counties.

The state is using federal stimulus funding for the projects, which involve:

  • 6.7 miles of Ga. 53 from Pickens County to Ga. 183 in Dawson. The cost: $1.2 million.
  • 9.8 miles of Ga. 9 from Fulton County to Ga. 20 in Forsyth. The cost: $1.9 million.
  • 10.8 miles of Ga. 356 from Ga. 17 to Ga. 197 in Habersham and White. The cost: $1.7 million.

C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. of Marietta was awarded the contracts.
