Times photographer Robin Michener Nathan spent a week in Vietnam with a humanitarian mission trip from First Baptist Church in Gainesville. During their time there, a few trip members learned how to drink coconut juice straight from the coconut like the Vietnamese. Try one for yourself with these simple steps.

Step 1: Select your coconut.

Step 2: Cut off the top of your coconut.

Step 3: Use your fingers to make the hole in the coconut larger.

Step 4: Add sugar.

Step 5: Stir up the sugar in the coconut using a straw.

Step 6: Drink up!
