Michelle Salmon of Gainesville recently was named to the academic achievement list for the spring semester at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus. To be named to the academic achievement list, students must earn a 3.5 grade-point average in three to 14 hours of coursework.

Gainesville State College's Politically Incorrect Club on April 18 toured the historic Gen. James Longstreet Piedmont Hotel Museum in Gainesville. Longstreet Society President Richard Pilcher spoke about Gen. Longstreet, a Confederate general in the Civil War, before students explored the restored historic site. Douglas Young is the adviser for the club.
