Nathanial S. Harris and Chelsea N. Sirard of Gainesville, was named to the dean's list at Darton College for the fall semester. To qualify for the dean's list, a student must be full time and have earned a 3.4 or more grade-point average.

Cathy Cox, President of Young Harris College, is pleased to announce that Ryan Nicholas Bender has been named to the Young Harris College Dean's List for the Fall 2010 semester. Students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average or better are eligible to be named to the Dean's List.

On Dec. 18, Hall County Sheriff Steve Cronic and his son Cody Cronic made their annual trip to the Georgia Sheriff's Boys Ranch in Hahira to deliver a load of bicycles to the kids at the youth home. This marks the fourth year that the sheriff and his son have made this trip. The Georgia Sheriffs Youth Homes has provided quality care for hundreds of children. It is a commitment of the Sheriff's of Georgia to continue this history.

Pvt. Daniel Austin Dunn recently graduated from Marine Corp. boot camp in San Diego, Calif. Dunn trained as a marksman at Camp Pendleton and is currently stationed in Pensacola, Fla., for training in aviation ordnance.

Proceeds from the 'Good News for Gainesville' bike ride in October were recently distributed just in time for Christmas. The bike ride, sponsored as a cooperative event among local churches as a ministry to the community, raised a total of $4,500 that was given to three important Hall County ministries: Good News at Noon, Good News Medical and Adults Protecting Children.

Organizers of the sixth annual CVB Chocolate Fair, held Nov. 8 at Funopolis Family Fun Center at Banks Crossing, report that the event was a complete success. "The location at Funopolis was perfect and we received a ton of food donations for the Banks County Community Resource Association (BCCRA). The participants and attendees were asked to bring donations and practically everyone who came through the door brought at least one food donation. Some even brought clothing donations as well," said Banks County CVB President Bonnie Johnson.
