Walt Snelling was recognized by his classmates, the Gainesville High School Class of 1955, at their 55th reunion on Oct. 23, at the Chattahoochee Country Club. Snelling has been the "Voice of the Red Elephants" for three decades. Johnny Vardeman, a long time friend of the class as well as of Snelling, presented the trophy with the assistance of Kay Reed Scoville. The Class of '55 is happy to honor one of its own. The fifth biennial Georgia Youth Summit was held Sept. 11-13 at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton. The leadership conference was attended by 716 youth and adults from 133 counties. Representatives from Hall County included Haley Woodard from East Hall High School, John Washington from Flowery Branch High School and Sydney Roach.
