Two students from Hall County, Johnathan Kytle and Chad Williams, were named to the summer semester dean's list at Middle Georgia College. To make the dean's list, a student must have at least a grade-point average of 3.5 out of a possible 4.0 while maintaining a full academic load.
Johnson High School rising senior Mimi Sam placed nationally at the 2011 FBLA National Leadership Conference held in Orlando, Fla. National Leadership Conference was the final competition for the year with members from all over the U.S. coming together to compete for the top ten places in each event. Sam placed third in the nation in Word Processing II. Along with the honor, she won $300 in cash prizes.
Lona Pope was named Rotarian of the Year at the recent annual banquet of the Rotary Club of Hall County Sunset. Having previously served as a district governor and active in Rotary for some 20 years, this was Pope's first time as recipient the award.
