School News: Dean's lists, president's list and honors lists

Kathryn E. Rooks of Gainesville was named to the Dean's List at Coastal Carolina University for Spring Semester 2012. To qualify for the Dean's List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average.

The Georgia Department of Transportation announces the winners of the annual District-wide equipment driving skills competition called the "DOT Roadeo." The Roadeo is an annual competition between Georgia Department of Transportation employees to determine the "Best" driver in six categories: Single Axle Dump Truck, Double Axle Dump Truck, Tractor Mower, Backhoe, Motor Grader and Lowboy.

2nd Lt. Bryant Wine of Gainesville was commissioned into the Georgia Army National Guard in a ceremony held May 3 at North Georgia College & State University. As part of the ceremony, Wine's parents, Brent and Nancy Wine, attached his new lieutenant's gold bars to his uniform.
