The DaVinci Academy seventh- and eighth-grade band participated in the Ninth District East Georgia Music Educators Large Group Performance Evaluation at Hart County High School Performing Arts Center in Hartwell. In their first ever LGPE participation, the group earned superior ratings from all three performance judges.

Several local students recently competed in the Annual Health Care Occupations of America State Leadership Conference in Athens. The top three students in each of the 54 events have qualified to compete at the HOSA National Leadership Conference held in June in Orlando, Fla. Mallory Rich of Gainesville was recently named to the president's list at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro for the fall 2011 semester. To be eligible for the president's list, a student must have at least a 4.0 grade-point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.
