Organizers of the sixth annual CVB Chocolate Fair, held Nov. 8 at Funopolis Family Fun Center at Banks Crossing, report that the event was a complete success. "The location at Funopolis was perfect and we received a ton of food donations for the Banks County Community Resource Association (BCCRA). The participants and attendees were asked to bring donations and practically everyone who came through the door brought at least one food donation. Some even brought clothing donations as well," said Banks County CVB President Bonnie Johnson.

The Big Red JROTC competed recently in its first state qualifying Academic, Drill and Athletic Meet. The squad placed first overall. Other first-place finishes were in Personnel Inspection, with a perfect score for unit leader Anel Tavira; Unarmed Basic Drill (perfect score), Tavira as platoon commander; Unarmed Exhibition, Tiffany Townsend as platoon commander; Armed Exhibition Drill, Josue Hernandez as platoon commander; and in Team Push-Ups and Sit-Ups.

Walt Snelling was recognized by his classmates, the Gainesville High School Class of 1955, at their 55th reunion on Oct. 23, at the Chattahoochee Country Club. Snelling has been the "Voice of the Red Elephants" for three decades. Johnny Vardeman, a long time friend of the class as well as of Snelling, presented the trophy with the assistance of Kay Reed Scoville. The Class of '55 is happy to honor one of its own. Johnson students selected for Hall County Honor Band

Thirteen musicians from Johnson High School were selected for the fourth annual Hall County Honor Band, which was directed this year by Josh Byrd, director of bands at the University of West Georgia.
