Goody's files for bankruptcy; Gainesville store to close

Goody's Family Clothing, a moderately priced family apparel retailer operating in small to midsize markets primarily throughout the Southeast, announced Monday that it has filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company plans to close 69 of its 355 stores, including the stores in Gainesville and Cumming. It is not known how many employees are affected.
