Gainesville to hold workshop on monument care

The city of Gainesville is teaming up with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Georgia Municipal Cemetery Association to hold a monument conservation workshop Friday at Alta Vista Cemetery. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the class at 9 a.m. Attendees will learn about types of monuments, why different types fail, the proper way to clean and reset monuments and how best to repair fractured monuments. There is a $60 fee for the class.
