Property valuation appeals increase

The number of Hall County residents requesting appraisals of their homes this year was not a record number. But of those who got new appraisals, an unusually large number of them didn't like them and have appealed.

The Hall County Tax Assessors Office is processing a lot of property tax appeals this year - and officials expect appeals will continue to increase in coming years.

Gainesville man arrested on murder charge

A Saturday night house party in Gainesville spun out control when a fight broke out and moved into the street, where a man was shot to death.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office, still investigating the incident, has charged Valentin Garcia, 39, of Gainesville, with murder.
