UGA to buy Toccoa television station

The University of Georgia Research Foundation has reached an agreement to acquire WNEG-TV, channel 32, from its current owner, Media General Inc., both entities announced Wednesday.

The station soon will be operated by the University of Georgia through its Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Officials examine fatal accident

Brandy M. Cline, 22, of Statham died Saturday afternoon when her car collided with a cement culvert on the shoulder of Ga. 53, said Georgia State Patrol Operator Welborn of the Athens Post.

Cline's car left the road six miles south of Winder at about 3 p.m. Officials said alcohol did not appear to be involved.
