Gov. Sonny Perdue says state revenue collections for last month fell 6.6 percent from this time last year. Revenue for the first month of the 2008-09 fiscal year totaled $1.2 billion, a decrease of $86.4 million from the same month a year ago.

Pet CPR, first aid class scheduled

The Humane Society of Hall County and the Northeast Georgia chapter of the American Red Cross are set to hold a pet CPR and first aid class at 1 p.m. Sept. 13. The class will be held at the Adoption Center at 845 W. Ridge Road in Gainesville.

In this four-hour course, participants will learn to recognize an emergency situation for their pet, administer first aid and discover other ways to keep their pet healthy and happy. All participants must preregister. The cost is $35 and checks can be made payable to the American Red Cross.
