2 charged following explosion at carnival

Two employees of the Geren Carnival were arrested after police said they made a homemade chemical explosive device at the site of the carnival in the Lakeshore Mall parking lot.

According to a news release, Gainesville Police officers went to the mall parking lot at 3:46 a.m. Monday after receiving a call about a suspicious item near the carnival.
