Gainesville officials found no evidence that former City Manager Bryan Shuler violated city policy by the time Shuler resigned on Nov. 13, according to Sam Harben, the attorney for the city's personnel board.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has closed its investigation into the death of a Jackson County Jail inmate, and the findings have led to two jail employees losing their jobs.
"As a result of the internal investigation, two jail employees have been terminated from employment for failing to follow proper procedures," said Major David Cochran of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
By Friday afternoon, 71 percent of Hall County property taxes had been paid, and though there are still more to process, Tax Commissioner Keith Echols said he thinks there will be more late tax payments this year than in the past.
