Ga. 53 closed after fatal wreck

One person is dead after a fuel tanker and pickup truck collided this afternoon in northeastern Forsyth County.

The wreck, which happened about 3 p.m. at Porter Lane and Ga. 53, involved a white Isuzu pickup and a tanker that authorities say was carrying 400 gallons of diesel fuel.

Students OK after school placed on lockdown

Gainesville Parks and Recreation officials say no one was harmed when four juvenile males carrying BB guns came near a day camp at Fair Street Elementary school, even though the school was locked down as a precaution.

The department said staff saw the boys passing the basketball courts where day campers were playing at the school around 3:30 this afternoon.
