Worst of storms miss Hall: 'We were very fortunate'

Moms, children find friends with MOPS

Children and moms alike may find instant allies in a group called Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS is an international organization for mothers of children preschool age or younger. MOPS of Gainesville, chartered with the First Baptist Church on Green Street, held a consignment sale Saturday at the church to raise funds for the local chapter.

Storms cause widespread damage in Atlanta

ATLANTA (AP) -- Crews hauled broken glass and furniture out of downtown streets Saturday and homeowners surveyed damage caused by a possible tornado that surprised many residents and basketball fans. More thunderstorms headed across northern Alabama toward the city Saturday morning. "We're bracing for another round of whatever mother nature throws at us," said Lisa Janak of the state emergency management agency.

Here comes Fido Cottontail?

Easter came early for many Hall County dogs on Saturday morning. Hall County Parks and Leisure held the third annual Easter Bone Hunt in Laurel Bark Park in which 15 pooches hunted for 200 hidden plastic eggs containing dog treats. Additional eggs contained certificates for gifts such as dog bowls and travel packs.
