Burglars take money, video game from First United Methodist Church

Money and a video game system were lifted from Gainesville First United Methodist Church this week, but Gainesville Police found no signs of forced entry.

"We had one of our staff's office broken into," said the Rev. Terry Walton. "They stole some checks and some cash and some personal items from our employee. They also stole one of our Wii units from our youth hall."

Frances Meadows Center burglarized, cash taken

A burglar broke into the Frances Meadows Aquatic Center overnight, causing about $3,500 in damages, police said. An unknown amount of cash and checks were stolen.

A news release from the Gainesville Police Department said the burglary occurred between midnight and 5:40 a.m.
