City Councilman Robert "Bob" Hamrick twice has raised questions about whether Hall County officials are acting improperly by using revenues from the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax to pay county employees.
And although the practice is allowed by state law, Hamrick said he was left with even more questions when County Administrator Charley Nix canceled plans to explain the county's use of the tax money at a City Council work session last week.

A national organization's critical report on drug courts has supporters defending a system they say has reduced repeat offenses and improved lives by making substance abuse treatment a part of the judicial process.
Gainesville officials are looking at ways to ease traffic and congestion for public safety vehicles on some residential streets, including making Hillcrest Avenue and Dyer Street one-way fares, and will discuss the latest proposals at a work session this week.
