Tech women remain unbeaten at home

ATLANTA - Chloma Nnamaka scored 20 points and Janie Mitchell added 19 to lead Georgia Tech to a 78-50 victory over Georgia Southern on Sunday.

Tech (7-1) remained unbeaten at home this season having dropped its only game so far at Georgia a week earlier. The Eagles fell to 3-6.

Johnson preparing staff at Tech

ATLANTA - Navy moved quickly to name a successor to Paul Johnson, and that may help Johnson avoid delay in making decisions about his new staff at Georgia Tech.

Only one day after Johnson was named Georgia Tech's coach, Navy named assistant Ken Niumatalolo as Johnson's successor Saturday.

ATLANTA - Janie Mitchell scored 24 points to lead Georgia Tech (6-1) to a 92-45 victory over South Carolina Upstate (3-6) Thursday night at Alexander Memorial Coliseum. With her 24 points, Mitchell became the 22nd women's basketball player in Tech history to score 1,000 points in a career.

"I was very happy for Janie to score her 1,000th point tonight," head coach MaChelle Joseph said. "She came up huge from the start of tonight's game. Janie has been an impact player during her entire career at Tech."
