Georgia spring football awards announced

ATHENS - University of Georgia football coach Mark Richt announced its spring football awards Friday in conjunction with Saturday's annual spring G-Day football game.

The awards are given annually at the conclusion of spring practice to recognize improvement, dedication and performance on the field.

Bulldogs split doubleheader

ATHENS - Joey Lewis hit two home runs including a grand slam in the bottom of the third to lead Georgia to a 13-2 win over Winthrop as the fifth-ranked Bulldogs split a doubleheader with the Eagles Wednesday at Foley Field. Winthrop won the first game 7-4.
