Buford junior commits to Georgia

Buford High junior Dallas Lee verbally committed to the University of Georgia this weekend. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman was a Times first-team All-Area selection in 2007 as a defensive tackle, but is expected to play on the offensive line for the Bulldogs.

Chestatee grad earns win for Bulldogs

Georgia sophomore pitcher Alex McRee, a Chestatee High grad, earned the win for the Bulldogs in their 11-3 win against Clemson on Tuesday night at Foley Field in Athens. McRee finished with a career-high seven strikeouts and didn't allow a hit to improve to 4-1 on the season. "Alex has done a solid job on the weekend for us and was solid tonight," Georgia coach David Perno said.

UGA cheerleader released from hospital

A Georgia cheerleader was released from the hospital Monday, a day after she hit her head hard on the court during the women's NCAA tournament. Christine Conley sustained an injury consistent with a concussion and was discharged from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Georgia team physician Fred Reifsteck said Monday. Conley, a senior, is expected to make a full recovery. Reifsteck said the team trainer got to her within seconds and found her awake and alert.
