ATHENS - Three freshmen scored in double figures and Georgia scored the first 21 points of the second half to break open a close game and beat Jacksonville State 107-65 on Friday night.

Jeremy Price scored 18 points, Chris Barnes had 14 - all in the second half - and Jeremy Jacob added 13 as Georgia's first-year forwards showed promise in the season-opener for both teams.

Knowshon Moreno became the first Georgia freshman since Herschel Walker to run for 1,000 yards, going for 196 yards and three touchdowns as the No. 10 Bulldogs worked hard into the final quarter to handle Troy 44-34 on Saturday.

Georgia adjusting to exit of leading scorer

ATHENS - Georgia basketball was awash in positive news.

Dennis Felton's program has improved from 8-20 in 2005 to 15-15 in 2006 to 19-14 and a spot in the NIT last season. Season ticket sales were up 25 percent, the biggest jump in five years, thanks in part to a strong response from students. Also, the team has moved into its new $30 million practice facility.
