Dogs still in national title chase

Georgia loses out on SEC title game, but beats Tech again

ATLANTA - Georgia's football fans sent a not-so-subtle message to the Bowl Championship Series committee with a sprinkling of oranges thrown on the field Saturday night in Atlanta: the Bulldogs deserve a shot at a BCS bowl after their 31-17 win over Georgia Tech (7-5) at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

And the Bulldogs (10-2, 6-2 SEC) will probably get that opportunity.

Humphrey's double-double leads Lady Bulldogs to tourney title

FREEPORT, Bahamas - Gainesville grad and current University of Georgia All Americna Tasha Humphrey had 18 points and 14 rebounds and No. 8 Georgia held off upset-minded Southern California 59-57 on Saturday night to win the Junkanoo Jam's Freeport Division championship.

Angel Robinson added 15 points for the Bulldogs (6-0), who rallied from a six-point halftime deficit and found themselves trailing again with 71/2 minutes remaining. Angela Puleo scored 11 for Georgia.

Georgia notebook: Flowery Branch star takes in rivalry game

Flowery Branch High senior quarterback Jaybo Shaw was on hand at Saturday's game on an official visit to see the Yellow Jackets play. Shaw, who is verbally committed to Middle Tennessee State, has scholarship offers from MTSU and Air Force. The 6-foot, 175-pound senior is the eight-ranked dual threat quarterback in the country, according to Rivals.com.

Georgia badgered by Wisconsin in loss

MADISON, Wis. - Trevon Hughes scored 18 points as Wisconsin closed with a dominating second-half run to defeat Georgia 68-49 Saturday at the Kohl Center.

The Badgers (5-0), who trailed in the second half for the first time this season, scored 31 of the game's final 37 points over the last 12-plus minutes of action.
