Poythress, Massanari earn another honor

ATHENS -- Georgia junior first baseman Rich Poythress and senior catcher/designated hitter Bryce Massanari were named to the 2009 All Ping!Baseball Team on Friday. Poythress was named to the second team while Massanari was named honorable mention as a catcher.

Two Lady Bulldogs named first team All-Americans

University of Georgia sophomores Alisa Goler and Taylor Schlopy were named 2009 Easton All-America First-Team softball selections according to an announcement made by Easton Sports, Inc., on Thursday.

The Easton All-America recognition adds to an already impressive list of honors for both Goler and Schlopy.

Georgia opener to be televised

The Georgia football season opener at Oklahoma State will be televised on ABC at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 5. This will be Georgia's 69h appearance on ABC all time. Georgia's all-time record on ABC is 42-24-2. Following the Oklahoma State game, the Bulldogs return home to host South Carolina on Sept. 12.
