Falcons players give physical fitness lessons at Fair Street

Fair Street elementary fifth- grader Jalaluddin Numanlia-wane was trying his best to show off his physical prowess Wednesday afternoon.

Whether it was breaking out a set of 25 push-ups on the spot in front of fellow students or a beginner's try at doing a split, Numanlia-wane, 10, was trying to keep the mood lively as the school hosted an Atlanta Falcons Fitness Zone and Arthur Blank Foundation event at the school's gym.

Armstrong joins Falcons staff, will coach special teams

ATLANTA - Keith Armstrong returned for his second coaching stint with the Atlanta Falcons when he was named special teams coordinator on Tuesday.

New Falcons coach Mike Smith continued to fill his staff by also naming Jeff Fish the strength and conditioning coach, Bill Hughan as Fish's assistant and Tom McMahon as assistant special teams coach.

Flowery Branch - The Atlanta Falcons today named Mike Mularkey the team's new offensive coordinator and Brian VanGorder Atlanta's defensive coordinator.

Mularkey comes to the Falcons with a vast amount of coaching experience in the NFL, which includes two years as a head coach (Buffalo Bills) and two stints as an offensive coordinator, one with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2001-2003) and the other with the Miami Dolphins (2006).

Man who sold pitbull to Vick gets probation and fine

RICHMOND, Va. - A man who sold a female pit bull to Michael Vick's dogfighting operation and attended some of the fights escaped prison time Friday because he cooperated with investigators and did not physically harm any of the dogs.

Oscar Allen was sentenced to three years probation and fined $500 for his limited involvement in the Bad Newz Kennels dogfighting ring that operated out of Vick's 15-acre spread in rural Surry County.
