Panthers look for rare home win

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Mike Rucker's alarm will go off at 7 a.m. today. An hour later, the Carolina Panthers' defensive end will eat some spaghetti with chicken. He'll then drive to the stadium and arrive exactly three hours before kickoff.

Convinced that consistency is important, Rucker's gameday schedule hasn't changed for years. Everything is timed to the minute, from when he puts on his pads to his pregame workout.

Dunn moves closer to 10,000 yards

FLOWERY BRANCH - Before breaking out with his first 100-yard rushing game in more than a year last week, Warrick Dunn appeared on the verge of yielding first-string honors in Atlanta to Jerious Norwood.

Instead, Dunn solidified his starting status with 27 carries for 100 yards in a win over San Francisco. He also moved closer to 10,000 yards for his career. Dunn didn't have to be reminded Wednesday of his career total.

Babineaux cleared of animal cruelty charges

FLOWERY BRANCH - Jonathan Babineaux expressed relief on Wednesday after he was cleared of a felony animal cruelty charge that could have sent the Atlanta Falcons' defensive tackle to prison.

"I'm just happy the whole situation is over with," Babineaux said. "It's been a long process. I've been waiting it out and it's finally over."
