Ehler takes lead in Forrest Wood Cup

DULUTH - Team National Guard professional Brent Ehrler, of Redlands, Calif., crossed the stage at the Gwinnett Arena with a five-bass limit weighing 14 pounds, 4 ounces Saturday to lead Day 3 of the Forrest Wood Cup on Lake Lanier, putting himself in position to become the first angler to win the coveted title twice in the tourney's 15-year history.

Willis qualifies for outdoorsman regional competition

Gainesville resident Jarod Willis has qualified to compete in Field & Stream's Total Outdoorsman Challenge Regional Championship on June 26 in Leeds, Ala. The event is one of four regional qualifiers and the top three finishers in each event will advance to the Total Outdoorsman's intensive final Championship event from Sept. 9-11 in Springfield, Mo.

Lake Lanier Fishing Report: Catching bass may be rewarding or frustrating

Lake Lanier's water level is 1068.23 or 2.77 feet below full pool of 1071. Water surface temperatures have varied between the upper 60's and low 70's. Lake Lanier is clear to stained on main lake and stained in the rivers and creeks. The Chattahoochee River is stained below Buford Dam due to lake turnover.
