"Pound the rock."
JEFFERSON - The Region 8-AA title race was summed up best by Jefferson High football coach Bill Navas after its 47-20 win over Riverside Military on Friday night at Jefferson Memorial Stadium.

Class AA's top-ranked Buford High softball team opened the Region 6-AA tournament with a 5-2 win against Greater Atlanta Christian on Thursday in Norcross.
One test passed, another awaits.
North Hall at White County
The North Hall High volleyball team swept a home meet against area opponents Gilmer (25-11, 25-19), East Hall (25-10, 25-7) and Gainesville (25-11, 25-12) on Wednesday in Gainesville.
They're 1,030 pounds of protection. That's how much weight an offense faces when they line up against the White County's defensive line.
At the end of week 5 the Hall County football players have created the following power ratings. It might be hard for Rob Carlyle to match what he accomplished this season as Buford's wrestling coach, but he's eager to give it a shot. Led by four-time state champion Chip Ness, the Wolves capped off a historic season with Class AAA state titles both in duals and traditionals in 2014.
