Two sets of Lady Wolves, both state ranked, face off tonight

Buford High girls basketball coach Gene Durden has deliberately tried to create a little chaos during practice this week. The Class AA fourth-ranked Lady Wolves' (14-2) third-year coach has done his best to test his team's attention to detail.

Whether it be full-court press on defense, seven defenders to try to disrupt the flow of the offense or loud noise with whistles and constant instruction, it's all a test to see how focused his team really is.

Prep wrestling: First-year Wolverines earn Duals state berth

ELLIJAY – It wasn't exactly what West Forsyth coach Dennis Stromie was hoping for: nobody wants to lose 73-3 in the finals. But the Wolverines' second-place finish at Saturday's Area 7-AAA Duals championship was more than the veteran coach expected from his first-year program.

"I coached at Parkview for 22 years and won two state duals championships, and this is right up there with those," Stromie said of the Wolverines state-clinching finish. "I'm just so happy for the kids, because I want them to be able to experience those things."
