From across the field, North Hall soccer player Tess Patton can be heard yelling, "through," "play it up," "I'm ready" or, as was the case in a practice scrimmage Monday afternoon at North Hall Middle School, "I know! I (stink)!"
FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch brought an end to its search for a boys basketball coach Sunday when Duke Mullis was tabbed to take over with the Falcons.
Mullis, who has a career record of 317-150, has coached at Brentwood High School, Middle Georgia College, Chattahoochee High School and most recently served as the head coach of West Forsyth last season.
North Hall's Josh Wright has, what he likes to refer to as, a bulldog mentality on the mound. It's his inner confidence that the opposition isn't going to be able to score when the ball is in his hand.
Flowery Branch senior Patrick Henry went 3-for-3 with a three-run home run, two doubles and four RBIs in a 10-0 win against West Hall on Friday night in Oakwood. With the win, the Falcons (18-2, 14-2 Region 7-AAA) extended their current win streak to 10 games dating back to a loss at Gilmer on March 24.

Patience isn't one of Richie Castruita's strong suits. Luckily for West Hall, the junior timed his goal-scoring runs to perfection on two separate occasions to help lead the Spartans (11-1-2) to their second straight appearance in the state semifinals.
JONESBORO - The Buford girls tennis team was unable to cap off their historic season with a championship. The Lady Wolves ended up losing out to Woodward Academy 3-0 on a hot Saturday afternoon in the GHSA class AAAA state championship at the Clayton International Park Tennis Center.
